The lunar New Year Grand Parade can be dated back to the 1860s when the Gold Rush ended and Chinese settled down at San Francisco. Parade was held annually during the Lantern Festival to usher in the New Year and good fortune, while introducing Chinese culture to U.S. Citizens. For over a century, the Parade has been developing and become the grandest activity in San Francisco, ranking the largest-scale Asian Cultural Festival Celebration and listed as one of the Global Top Ten Parades.
