The University of California at Berkeley hosted its 25th Chinese Martial Arts Tournament (CMAT) on March 25-26, 2017, attracting over 500 competitors from across America and around the world. CMAT is one of the most authoritative Chinese martial arts tournaments in the United States.
Shaolin Kung Fu Show
Shaolin Temple USA students excelled again at the tournament garnering 60 awards in traditional events including 35 gold medals, the Gold and Silver awards in the group competition, and an individual Grand Champion title in the Youth Advance Division. Students from Shaolin Temple USA Culture Centers in San Francisco, Fremont, California and the Shaolin Kung Fu program at Stanford University participated in this tournament.

To celebrate its 25th Anniversary, CMAT also hosted a special Masters Exhibition of Chinese martial arts systems and styles on March 25. Invited by CMAT to represent Shaolin Kung Fu, Shaolin Temple USA Executive Director Master Yanran and the Shifus showcased traditional Shaolin fist, weapons, wellness Qigong and hard Qigong. The audience awarded their superb performance and unique program with rave applauses and cheers. CMAT filmed the performance for a documentary to promote Chinese Martial Arts in the United States.
